WOW! Another school year has come and gone! Spring brought great accomplishments for three Sangamon County-Area students, and this summer is set to provide many changes regarding the GED testing system and the certification of our educators. We have attempted to provide a “glimpse” of those upcoming changes below. Please know that this is an ongoing process and changes to the process are occurring daily. Our office would like you to know that we are here to assist you in the implementation of the process. Please feel free to contact our office with any questions you may or any guidance you might need.

2013 CONVERSION TO ILLINOIS PROFESSIONAL EDUCATOR LICENSES

Standard or Master Teaching, School Service personnel, Administrator

What is happening? All current Illinois teaching certificates will be exchanged for a Professional Educator License (PEL) or Educator License with Stipulations (ELS) on July 1, 2013. ECS will be replaced by the Educator License Information System (ELIS) on July 1, 2013. ELIS. Access to ECS is scheduled to cease when ELIS begins. Exchange to Licensure PowerPoint 

Currently, everyone’s credentials are listed in the Teacher Certification Information System (TCIS).  However a new system for reporting information began February 1, 2013-the Educator Information System (EIS). EIS will be fully implemented by July 1, 2013. This change will affect all educators. Please refer to the Exchange to Licensure PowerPoint  for details about this change.
