One of the goals of the Illinois State Board of Education is to assist educators in applying the principles and practices of a “Standards-Led” Educational System to improve teaching and learning. Many districts and schools have begun the process of aligning their school and district-level curriculum with the standards. An area of work that has yet to be focused on is providing training and support for teachers to align classroom-level lessons and assessments to the Illinois Learning Standards.
SAC training is designed to provide participants with an understanding of how to align classroom work and classroom level assessments with the Illinois Learning Standards. In addition, it is designed to provide each school team with tools and resources to continue the ongoing study of these areas back at their schools in school-level “Learning Teams.”
As Standards-Led curriculum continues to evolve, Performance Descriptors and the Assessment Frameworks have been added to give educators guidelines to the rigors and specific items needed.
