 Service Learning Training AN INTRODUCTORY COURSE ON THE CORE CONCEPTS AND BEST PRACTICES IN SERVICE-LEARNING HAS BEEN SCHEDULED FOR FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 2, 2007 , IN SPRINGFIELD , ILLINOIS     Capital Area Career Center, 2201 Toronto Rd., Springfield , IL 62712   Time:    9:30 am to 10:00 am - 3:00 pm  Click here for the:  AGENDA

            Hosted by:        Sangamon County ROE #51 Presenters: Mike Mangan, The Center: Resources for Teaching and Learning; and Mary Loken, Sangamon County Regional Office of Education.

  Details: This workshop is available free of charge to staff from all Illinois Learn and Serve America projects and other interested Illinois educators. Please be sure to invite any other teachers or administrators who are not Learn and Serve America grantees, but would like to learn more about the use of service-learning as an instructional method. Although no registration fee is required, pre-registration is requested, on the attached form. Four hours of CPDU credit will be available to all participants. All participants will receive a copy of The Complete Guide to Service Learning, by Cathryn Berger Kaye, and other service-learning resources.   A follow-up workshop on advanced service-learning methods will be scheduled at the same site, later in this school year.

 Singapore Math Problem Solving - This is a program of interest that is sweeping the country! This workshop will
focus on the 8-Step Model Drawing process which is a main problem-solving technique
used in Singapore Math, but can be implemented by teachers using other math programs.
Attendees will learn the basics behind this process, how to apply it to more advanced
