STARLAB Training Participants will learn how to set up, care for, operate, and use our $15,000 STARLAB system so they can use it with their own students. Training will include a brief demonstration of each of our 10 available programs. Teachers will also receive ideas and materials for using the programs which can be adapted to a wide range of k-12 grade levels. 1:00-4:00 PM, 3 CPDU's. Cost: $5. *Cancelled*Social Emotional Intelligence: When NCLB is Not Enough (AAC # 598) This academy course will provide participants with tools and research to infuse Illinois Social-Emotional Learning Standards across any curriculum as a tool to improve school culture and student achievement.  Participants will become familiar with the Illinois Standards for Social and Emotional Learning (SEL), will understand the need to infuse SED across curriculum, demonstrate understanding of strategies for integrating and infusing SED across the curriculum, and write a plan for dissemination of workshop information to staff.  There will be some journal reflections written so that participants can write ideas of how best to implement in their building. 8:30-3:30, Sangamon ROE-SDC, CACC Bldg, 2201 Toronto Road, ROE-SDC Computer Lab, Springfield, IL, Presenter: Susan Goodale, Cost: In District $125, Out of District $140.

Impacting AYP through RtI (AAC#525) For Administrators or Teachers This course will provide learners with the knowledge they need to meet the Response to Intervention (RtI) provisions under NCLB and IDEA 2004. This course will provide the participant with an overview of RtI, emphasize the relationship of accountability in special education as it is linked to accountability in general education, explore the research base for data collection and study the legal foundations for scientifically researched based interventions. Google Earth in the Classroom Teachers will learn how the amazing, FREE , web-based Go ogle Earth can enhance your classroom in all areas of the curriculum!  Zoom in, tilt and explore the world in 3D!  Besides a tutorial in using the Go ogle Earth features, teachers will learn many applications to bring this amazing technology into the classroom. Teachers will learn how to make a Virtual Field Trip for their classroom.
